SMC v8.beta30.1 - Changelog


Heya all, last Snapshot was another big Snapshot, so as expected there is a patch to address some issues as well as make some tweaks! But there is some new stuff, so equip your Frog Suit and let's dive in...

New Factory Tileset: Courtesy of The Flying Dutchman, we now have the [u]SMAS SMB1 Factory Tileset[/u]. It's a really nifty tileset, coming with a new music track as well! Give it a go!

Notable tweaks & additions

- Superballs now need to be 1 sec. off-screen before they're deloaded prematurely. This allows the player to spawn them when off-screen themselves too.

- A new retro background has also been added, the SMW Retro Castle BG! This means there's a BG for each new Retro tileset.

- 2 new platform skins to go along the Mysterious Ruins tileset, and SMW wood & SMAS SMB1 factory platforms received palettes.

- An update on doors! I completely forgot to mention this in the previous changelog, but the SMAS SMB1 received door parity too! There's both more interactable doors, as well as scenery doors for the gamestyle. I gave them a 'new'-label, to draw some more eyes to them.

Speaking of scenery doors, a tweak was made: Tile P-Doors are now also only visible during P-Timers, just like interactable doors.

Lots of bug fixes & other tweaks

MORE TWEAKS / SMALLER ADDITIONS

• Big optimization to scrolling through SMAS SMB1 Main Decoration palettes.

• Added the missing long trunk tile to the SMW Retro Grass tileset.

• Added new window tiles to the Retro Castle tileset (that are off-grid).

• Added the SMW Retro Castle theme preset.

• Soccer Balls lose 40% of their speed when they collide from a wall whilst airborne (mid-air wall-bounces retain speed), which feels more natural & realistic.

• The Eyedropper menu is now no longer affected by Darkness & Silhouette filter effects, meaning it's easier to tell what's on them.

• Raccoon Goombas now patrol 6 tiles, instead of 6.5 tiles, which makes it easier to design environments around them.

• Raccoon Goombas now move at half speed underwater (due to this, they can patrol 7 tiles whilst submerged).

• Updated the Italian language file w/ new updates (by ShyGuy97, the creator of the locale).

• Updated the SMAS SMB1 Garden tileset icon to be more in line with the other icons.

• Penguin/Frog Mario entering horizontal pipes whilst swimming now displays their (idle) swimming animation, and they enter/exit through the center of the pipe.

• Some Retro Liquid animation speeds were tweaked to make it easier to tell them apart.

BUG FIXES

-Fix some linear projectiles registering terrain collisions when carried by wind

-Fix Arrow Clouds not able to spawn in their paused state

-Fix retro mushroom platforms not always appearing with the right palette when transparent (when in cursor or inactive layer)

-Fix the green retro mushroom platform on the 4th palette of the tileset having some incorrect (duplicate) colors

-Fix some tiles of the SMAS SMB1 Main Decoration tileset appearingly incorrectly when transparent

-Fix cycling Arrow Signpost skins sometimes causing them to appear pitch-black

-Fix wooden Arrow Signpost tiles being offset in the SMW Airship/Tank tileset

-Fix two Mysterious Ruins tiles having incorrect collisions

-Fix tile tip notifications appearing if tile under a palette icon was pressed

-Fix Fishbones & Meteors able to phase through specific semi-walls

-Fix stationary Soccer Balls taking out compatible overlapping enemies when the player kicks another Soccer Ball elsewhere

-Fix SMAS SMB1 Boss Doors spawning with the wrong sprites

-Fix switching door types resetting the palette ID of the large doors (but not changing the color back to default)

-Fix woken up Goombas on stacks not ever stopping panicking until they reach the ground

-Fix taking out enemies with net punches always rewarding the player an extra 100 points

-Fix Sleeping Goomba & Rip Van Fish having a redundant mirror mode

-Fix Rip Van Fish having lowered gravity when exiting water in chase mode

-Fix Rocky Wrench's vertical momentum of thrown sprites not being consistent

-Fix Frog Mario still having his 8-directional swimming momentum when starting a warp

-Fix Passin' & Kickin' Chuck's head animations being bugged after they unpause

-Fix some customizer dots not having SMAS SMB1 assets

-Fix SMW Turnips, SMW Beanstalk, SMW Retro tilesets & SMAS SMB1 Ruins not having roofskip/floorskip-prevention

-Fix the wings of SMAS SMB1 Paragoombas in-editor being higher up than during gameplay

-Fix SMAS SMB1 Paragoombrat still using the old sprite in-editor

-Fix Galoomba/Goombud assets not being pre-loaded when the map is loading

-Fix some SMW Cloud tileset tiles (in the toolbar) overlapping with other tiles if tile segmenting is enabled

-Fix SMAS SMB1 Shroom Coin gift box releasing Shroom Coins with regular coin visuals

-Fix Penguin/Frog Mario going back to their regular (on-land) hitbox when warping

-Fix stomping on Rocky Wrench helmets causing other sprites to receive horizontal momentum too

-Fix origin point dots appearing below platforms in-editor & cursor

-Fix setting a Platform/Amp's sine-target position re-entering the same cursor state if the cursor was where the button would be created

-Fix music playing even if the music is set to be muted in the Paste & Play and Extra Options & Tools menus

-Fix Penguin/Frog Mario having regular water physics when dismounting Yoshi whilst submerged

-Fix the player sometimes dismounting Yoshi with more vertical momentum than intended

-Fix not able to mount Yoshi whilst swimming as Penguin/Frog Mario

-Fix Bloopers in Bubbles loading in below Mario moving outside of their bubble, then moving along with it

-Fixed Torpedo Ted speeds not initiating properly as of last Snapshot
